This repair involved a unique 1933 Bacon & Day Silverbell Symphonie banjo. The rear peg head overlay found itself separating and after an easy removal (with a cake spatula!), reshape and reglue, it was holding on stronger than ever. There were quite a few finish touch ups on this beauty and ended with a complete refret and neck angle shim. No doubt, it was a big job but the end result plays like a dream and it’s ready for another 90 years in St. Louis!
The best part of the whole process was listening to the owner play it and hear some of the history of this old banjo. I love hearing and preserving the stories and even getting the chance to be a small part of that history, makes me smile.
